Community & Social Safeguards

The Vadvai Growers project integrates social inclusion and community development as core components of its land restoration and bamboo plantation activities. The initiative aligns with relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 8 (Decent Work), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Youth Capacity Building – National Youth Service (NYS)

The project provides structured, hands-on training opportunities for participants from the National Youth Service. Training activities include bamboo nursery management, propagation techniques, plantation establishment, and field operations. This capacity-building approach supports skills development in sustainable agriculture and climate-resilient land management, contributing to youth employability and long-term institutional knowledge transfer.

Gender Inclusion & Women’s Economic Participation

Vadvai Growers promotes inclusive participation by engaging women from local communities in nursery operations and plantation-related activities. The initiative supports women’s access to skills, income opportunities, and participation in sustainable land-use practices, contributing to improved household resilience and local economic development.

Community Water Access

In recognition of water scarcity challenges in semi-arid regions, the project supports shared access to water infrastructure where feasible. Water systems developed for plantation operations are managed to enable community use, contributing to improved access to clean water while maintaining sustainable resource management practices.
